Religion says, “I will be good enough to get into heaven. My good works will gain me salvation. Do I have sin? Sure, but God is forgiving and loving, so no problem.”
This is a common view today among many, even among those who claim to be Christians. The problem is, our works will never satisfy God’s justice. In fact, the Bible says we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Rom. 3:23). Furthermore, since we have sinned and therefore broken God’s law, we deserve punishment, which is death (Rom. 6:23). These iniquities have separated us from God (Isaiah 59:2).
Yet God has provided a solution. In fact, He has come down to save us through Jesus Christ. God will not overlook the breaking of His moral law. However, Jesus satisfied God’s moral law by living a perfect life. God then took the sin of the world and laid it on His Son (Isaiah 53:6). Now, God’s justice has been satisfied since Jesus suffered for us and put our sin to death. The Prince of Peace now offers peace with God through repentance and faith in Him.
