0:00-1:00 Mormons believe that we all lived in a pre-existent state. In order to prove this, they misquote Jeremiah 1:5 which states “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Actually, this has nothing to do with a pre-existent state. Since God knows the future, He knew what Jeremiah would be like and the plan He had for him.
It is as simple as that and there is no mention of souls living in a pre-existent realm.
1:00-6:00- Since LDS doctrine believes in modern-day prophets and that Joseph Smith was a prophet, they have added new revelation. The goal of showing them Hebrews 1 is to explain how there is no new revelation allowed since Jesus fulfilled the role of prophet. Jesus is the final revelation. The verse I showed them read “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds…” (Hebrews 1:1-2). I also wanted to plant seeds of doubt and show them how their corrupt organization has not told them the truth about Jesus.
6:00-8:10- Mormons believe Jesus is one god out of many and was created. This is based off of the extra-biblical “revelation” that LDS leaders have “received.” However, the Bible clearly teaches that Jesus is eternal (Isaiah 9:6) and the Creator of everything (John 1:3).
8:10-end- Here are some verses to show them how the Trinity is biblical and Jesus is the final revelation. Hebrews 1:1-2 tells us God no longer reveals Himself through prophets but has done so once and for all through His Son Jesus Christ. In addition, the Bible not only says God raised Jesus from the dead, but that each person of the Trinity raised Him. John 2:19-22 says Jesus rose Himself from the dead, Romans 8:11 says the Holy Spirit did, Galatians 1:1 says the Father raised Him (not Ephesians my bad) and Acts 2:24 says God did. Therefore, since God raised Jesus from the dead, but the Bible says each person did, we have a Biblical basis for the Trinity. Also, Isaiah 44:6 tells us there is only one God so polytheism is heretical. Finally, Ephesians 2:8-9 says salvation is a free gift and works are not involved, which contreadicts LDS doctrine.
