The Good News Of Jesus Christ
The word Gospel means “good news.” According to the Bible, the good news is that Jesus Christ is Lord of the world. Why is this good news? Because through the Incarnation, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ God is making all things new.
God originally created the world as a perfect place where human beings would have perfect fellowship with Him and bear His image. However, deceived by Satan, man turned away from God and sinned. Because of this, man became broken and was under the curse and penalty of sin.
Thankfully, God in His love came to rescue His creation. God put on human flesh in the Person of Jesus Christ to redeem the humans He had created and forgive them of their sins. Jesus died on the cross as a substitute for humanity, therefore taking away the penalty of sin. Also on the cross, He defeated Satan by destroying the power of death he had on creation. Jesus then rose from the dead, showing that He really had launched God’s new creation.
Now, all who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord by faith can enter into eternal life. God will begin this new creation process by giving His people the Holy Spirit, who will guide the Christian into all truth and make the believer more like Jesus Christ. Finally, believers will forever be with Jesus Christ in the New Heavens and New Earth when He comes back to fully restore the world.
